Saweetie is hitting back at the sour response to sales of her new EP ‘The Single Life.’
Announced with less than a day’s notice, the six-track set arrived as a bridge of sorts to the rapper’s long-awaited album debut ‘Pretty B*tch Music.’
As can be the case with “surprise” sets (and similar), it appears the lack of heads-up may have been the cause of the project’s less-than-stellar sales. Indeed, it’s believed the project only shifted 2000 units in the US first week.
The numbers (or lack thereof) sparked debut in earnest on social media – with everyone from fans to Joe Budden to fellow artists weighing in.
Now, Saweetie is offering her two cents.

The whole situation is incredibly embarrassing for all involved and it’s clear Saweetie is attempting to save face. No one, especially an artist with her profile and portfolio of previous hits wants any kind of proximity to numbers like these. So, yes, there is a problem, a disconnect, a…something.
